Gibby’s Story

Paul Gibberman opened Gibby’s House of Flavors in 1954 on what was then New Rodgers Road in Levittown, Bristol Township. Karen’s dad, William Purcell, purchased the store from Mr. Gibberman in the mid to late 1960s. He kept the name so that the customers would know that he was committed to the same great homemade ice cream. Mr. Purcell built the business into a local icon known for fresh, homemade ice cream with specialty flavors like Teaberry, specialty sundaes like the C.M.P., custom cakes and the famous Boston Shake! When Mr. Purcell retired in the late 1980s, his son Bill began managing the store until his retirement in April 2018. Bill’s sister, Karen Purcell Reynolds, and her husband Rich are taking over the store May 1, 2018. Karen grew up in Gibby’s, working with her dad even before the uniform fit her as a little girl. Karen and Rich are excited to continue the Purcell family tradition at Gibby’s!

It’s Time for Gibby’s!
